'ocean country impressions' is the creative soul of Australian visual artist Karen Byrnes...
Growing up in the country but with a deep love of the sea, has had a profound effect on Karen's photographic art. After stumbling upon impressionist techniques, Karen developed a personal photography project for her first solo exhibition which was held in Roma, Outback Queensland in 2012.
Karen has since developed her own interpretive style of capturing images filled with light, colour, shape and emotion. In 2014, Karen received a RADF grant to attend a creative art photography workshop in NSW and held her second solo exhibition in Mackay, North Queensland.
Using in-camera techniques Karen often creates a number of ‘out of the ordinary’ photographs, which have been inspired by a love of nature and the abstract. Karen now lives in Hervey Bay, Queensland, and is working on her third solo exhibition.
"I'm a country girl at heart but the ocean has always captured my soul...here's a small collection of photographs that creatively show techniques that I have begun to experiment with, as a means to express myself..."
